It's hard not to make some very derisive comments about this book, because it is a horribly written and organized book. There are very few examples given, no review of the material and/or testing of comprehension by the "complete idiot" who may be reading the book, and concepts are poorly introduced and clarified. In my estimation, this book is a waste of hard-earned money. To be honest, I've had the same experience with every "Complete Idiot" book I've purchased, and I have, now, purchased my last one.

Added to Library with other books to help communicate ideas and thoughts to kids. Variety in communicating is a great way to see other angles to help kids figure out how things work.

Book is not as easy at it promotes itself. Explanations are few, and a lot of background info in just not there. It helps, but now what I expected.

The book is in great condition and for the price I would buy another just to have a second copy.

Just to be clear, I didn't read this book because I had to or that I was trying to supplement for a college text, I read it because I am interested in the subject and had some spare time to spend on it. I didn't have tests and deadlines to go with it so I had time to reall.y study it. In spite of that I could only make it to page 85. I put a lot of time into this book with pencil and paper working out the calculations and so forth and I thought it was great at first, until I noticed that the author published the book before proof-reading for mistakes. One thing I've learned is that Physics is a fairly exact science. This requires mathematic rigor, and to fly through a topic as if the reader is already familiar with it, or worse, to blatantly make a mistake in calculations, isn't something I have enough spare time to forgive. I'm giving it two stars though because as of yet I'm not familiar with any book which can introduce a person to physics that is better than it. It is good in that respect but it's not worth the headache of putting up with a teacher who routinely makes errors. Doing physics calculations can be a major migraine within that context so it's a two-star book. Hopefully soon I'll find something better than it.

I pre-ordered this cookbook. When it came, I sat down to flip through it. I was impressed with the range of recipes. I have made a couple of the appetizers that were a big hit; the Roasted Garlic Black-Eyed Pea Hummus and the Fancy Figs. They were both excellent. I have the pork chops for the Mustard-Herb Grilled Pork Chops in the marinade as I type this review. When I get a new cookbook, if there are two or three "keeper recipes" in it, I feel like I got my money's worth. This cookbook has the potential to have MANY more keepers than that.

There are 3 good books on picnics: The Picnic, Le Picnic, and this one. This is by far the best. It is more than twice the number of pages (with larger format) and has many good photos that tantalize you. However, the main strength of this book is the quality and number of recipes. My wife and I kept saying "Oh, that sounds really good" or "We have to have that at a dinner party" or "We definitely want to try that", and so on. Very few old, tried and true recipes, mostly new and exciting recipes. Yet none are too complicated. Most are quick and easy.I am a hard critic when it comes to books on food, wine, and kitchen equipment. I have cooked at home for over 50 years, and both my wife and I spent many years in the food and wine business. We don't go easy on authors. This book is easily 5 Star material. Buy it!Update: This is an outstanding book! My only suggestion is it should read: The Indoor/Outdoor Table. My wife and I keep finding outstanding recipes we want to use for cocktail parties or just dinners for us. The book is full of recipes we never would have thought of, and they are fantastic! Buy this book! If you love food, you will love this book!

I bought the kindle version of this book when it was on sale for 1.99 because, well, it was 1.99 and I figured if I even got one or two ideas for this summer it would be worth it. After looking through this book to find a recipe or two for a picnic I'm going to this weekend, I am very happy to say that this is one of the few recipes books that I would have been happy with even if I had paid full price. The first time I went through it, I think I put bookmarks on half the recipes. Although I haven't made any of the recipes yet, I have no doubt that the majority of them meet my exacting criteria for picnic food - easy to make for "not-great" cooks like me, easy to transport to picnic sites, most of the recipes use real food (not processed canned items) and delicious. I am also grateful to the author for making a vast majority of the recipes clear, easy to follow and not fussy. In my opinion, this book will be worth every penny you spend on it. I'm sure it will become a fast favorite for my summer picnic season.

Great cookbook! I downloaded it yesterday, have already digitally bookmarked so many pages! These recipes are outdoor-friendly, but really appropriate for any setting. Some are known recipes with a twist, but others are new. They all seem to be very approachable with "normal" ingredients. Everyday, normal-people food that sounds delicious!! 😊

I love it! What a fantastic collection of recipes. Really have enjoyed the ones I've tried...at least 20 at this point. Love that the ingredients are easy to find, very natural, and tasty. So happy with this purchase!

Got it out of my library first and liked it so much I ordered it from you. Have already cooked a meal = Salmon with a maple syrup sauce - delicious!

I like the variety of ingredients. I am a sucker for Southern cooking. I cannot wait to make some of these, starting today. I bought the Kindle version and am very impressed. There really wasn’t anything I didn’t like.
